Decoding the Apple Vision Pro | The Hypr’Scope
With a $3,499 starting price point, 2-hour battery life, and Pluto retrograde, just what exactly are we pinky promising to Apple?
Apple’s WDCC 2023 presentation recently unveiled their answer to VR/AR: The Apple Vision Pro, the tech giant’s first spatial computer. This groundbreaking innovation has ignited excitement in the tech world. To gain deeper insights into the cosmic forces at play behind it, let’s explore not an inception but an announcement astro chart of the Apple Vision Pro. By examining the planetary alignments and aspects at the moment of its introduction, we can start to paint a picture of the astrological story behind Apple’s foray into “spatial computing” and “mixed reality.”
AR is like a magic window that shows virtual things in the real world using special glasses or devices, while MR is when virtual objects blend with the real world, allowing you to interact with them as if they were really there. With Saturn’s recent entrance into Pisces, we have seen a surge in all three of these types of technology. Interestingly enough, the Meta Quest 3 was announced a couple of days ago, closely linked to the current North Node-Jupiter conjunction in Taurus. This conjunction is receiving a sextile from Saturn in Pisces, which is beginning to slow down for its first subaquatic retrograde in 28 years. The reason this is so prominent is that under Taurus energy lies the domain of our five senses, and what better way to introduce technology that aims to create immersive experiences like AR, MR, and VR than to utilize such fertile energy?
The conjunction is the strongest aspect, happening when planets or points are within a 10-degree orb in the same sign, creating an inseparable blending of energies that depends on the planets involved. There are both positives and negatives that come with this powerful blend
The sextile is a harmonious aspect between two planets separated by a 60-degree angle, often occurring when the planets are in naturally complementary signs (fire and air or water and earth)
The Birth Chart of Apple
Similar to individuals, products and technologies can have astrological birth charts too. By erecting the chart for the unveiling moment of the Apple Vision Pro, we can analyze the cosmic energies surrounding its launch. This analysis will offer a unique perspective on this first-gen device’s purpose, impact, and potential future developments. In other words, we can sort of offer a forecast for the future trajectory of the Apple Vision Pro. According to Ancient Astrology, Apple is currently considered to be in a 12th house Profection year, ruled by Gemini. With it being Gemini season right now, the main function of the Sun in astrology is to give life and illuminate. The company’s WDCC 2023 keynote is the perfect opportunity for this. Like Gemini, Virgo is the other sign ruled by Mercury, so what will we see from Apple this September when the sun is in Virgo marking Virgo Season? The sun is usually the most important planet in a chart but even more so for Apple.
In 1976, Apple was founded with an exalted sun in the sign of Aries, along with Mercury, who is in a glorious throne-like position. Mercury is considered to be in a cazimi — when a planet is seated at the heart of the Sun — and Mercury just so happens to be an ancient signifier in the stars for technology. Moving on, the rising sign in Cancer. The Rising is in a beautiful trine to the planet that rules fruits, Venus. Cancer is notorious for being very culture and family-oriented. If anything threatens that, all bets are off. One way this can be seen through Apple is how all the Apple products work and connect seamlessly together but discriminate against all other technology. Finally, we have the moon sign. Here in Apple’s chart, the moon also happens to be the ruler of the company’s rising sign. Analyzing the Moon on its own, we find that it also sits in an exalted state in the sign of Taurus, and to make it even better, it happens to be in conjunction with Jupiter, which, if you didn’t know, is the planet of abundance, luck, and benevolence. Next year, the Profection year will shift into the 1st house from the 12th, ending a 12-year cycle for the company, but we will talk more about that another time.
WWDC 2023/Apple Vision Pro’s Planetary Alignments
By considering the planetary transits and aspects occurring at the time of this event, we can anticipate potential challenges, market trends, tech advancements, and overall themes that may shape its evolution in the coming years. Not just for Apple Vision Pro, but for everything that was announced in the keynote. Of course, our focus here is the MR headset. Here are a few alignments that stood out to me:
Sun in Gemini:
This Mercurial energy is very much associated with our intelligence and collective curiosity, especially when it comes to tech. The multifunctionality and multitasking of multiple apps in spatial reality by the Apple Vision Pro.
Strawberry Full Moon in Sagittarius:
A couple of days before, the full moon bestowed trine energy to all of Apple’s Aries planets but also made an exact conjunction with Apple’s Neptune, the planet of fantasy and altered states. I would say Neptune in Sagittarius is the epitome of Apple, or even us as a species, embarking on this new adventure with this familiar yet foreign technology.
The trine is a harmonious aspect between planets at a 120-degree angle, often involving planets in the same element but different quality, and is considered a cosmic gift in the horoscope and associated with the number 3 in number mysticism.
The Planetary Ruler’s daily slowdown
During yesterday’s event, the Moon was in Capricorn. The Moon’s ruler here, Saturn, is also slowing down right as it forms a trine to Jupiter and Apple’s Moon in Taurus, which we covered earlier. According to the legendary Astrologer of our generation Lada Duncheva, when planets slow down (or what is known as “planetary stationing”), they are three times more powerful than usual. During this time, they are closer to the Earth. Saturn completely stops and retrogrades beginning June 17th until November 4th. It’s looking good right now, but Saturn, the planet associated with structure and longevity, will no doubt plays a crucial role. How it influences the Apple Vision Pro’s durability, reliability, realism, immersion, and long-term success in the forthcoming competitive spatial computing landscape is a big yellow block, question mark.
Of course, the Taurus North Node-Jupiter conjunction happening right now
In Apple’s chart, this conjunction with Jupiter occurs in the 11th house of social groups, public recognition, future goals, and gains (especially with the North Node and Jupiter both bringing increase and abundance, whichever house they cruise in). Jupiter happens to govern the 9th and 6th houses as well. So the logic here is all three of these “house topics” will factor into the Apple Vision Pro at some point down the road. We’ll follow up with the inception chart of the launch to see what this might truly deliver.
Pluto Retrograde in the sign of Technology.
Aquarius is the other sign that rules technology. With Pluto in Aquarius, there is an unquestionable evolution in our technology afoot. However, with Pluto having gone retrograde on May 1st and not moving forward again until October 2023, Apple dodged a nasty bullet. Pluto will make one more retrograde in Aquarius, crossing into Capricorn again next year, but from November 19th, 2024, we’re cosmically bound. It’s goodbye to Pluto in Capricorn for good. The company’s CEO, Tim Cook, mentioned that the device would release in early 2024, but could there possibly be a delay due to these retrogrades? Could Q3/Q4 or Late Fall 2024 be a better potential release window for the Apple Vision Pro, after all these crazy retrogrades? Or will Apple not heed my warning and launch it under a retrograde, resulting in glitchy tech? (Hey Apple, if you need help on the best possible release date, just hit up my people!)
The Promise of Apple Vision Pro
My personal favourite thing about Apple Vision Pro’s astrology is how much it embodies the Cancer archetype shown in the 1st house of Apple’s chart. To make a selection on this new mixed reality computer all you literally need to do is press your index and thumb fingers together, and if that doesn’t scream of a crab’s claws or pincers, then call me crazy.
So we have this announcement chart highlighting Apple’s vision of transforming spatial computing into a new frontier of immersive experiences. A promise of connection was stated by Tim Cook in a Good Morning America interview: “This is not about isolation; this is about connection. This is about having people there that feel like they’re there with you.” But why would there need to be such a thing unless, for some reason, we were unable to connect with people? Do his words hold true in the astro chart, or is this nothing more than a new cancerous problem that may befall society? There’s also the problem of elitism and discrimination. With Pluto retrograde and the Moon not doing so well in Capricorn, located in one of the more problematic houses, the 6th house of health. And then, of course, there’s also the $3,500 elephant. Will introducing something like this start to create a divide between people who have this technology and those who do not? The chart seems to have more questions than answers, and it’s all too soon to say. But one thing is for certain: “The era of spatial computing is here.” And I, for one, have never been more excited.
